Today we remember Patrolman Ernest Eichhorn. Patrolman Eichhorn died on Sept. 16, 1958. He was in front of the Puyallup Fairgrounds directing traffic after the fair had closed when he was struck by a drunk driver. #GoneButNeverForgotten

Today we remember Detective Eric Gunderson. He traveled throughout the country representing the WSP as the premier agency in the world for UAV usage. Unfortunately, he contracted COVID while on one of these trips. He died on Sept. 26, 2021, after a courageous battle with COVID.

DRIVE SOBER!

Another night of our DUI Emphasis Patrol across the PNW is kicking off. Drive sober!!

This vehicle was stopped going 108 MPH in a 60 MPH zone SB I-5 near SR-18 in Federal Way. Driver had no license, no insurance and expired tabs. He left with a $1800 ticket. Crashing at 108 MPH would be devastating. Slow down!!!

Today we remember Patrolman Vernon Fortin. He died on September 30, 1923. He was injured when his motorcycle collided with another patrolman’s motorcycle while they were en route to the Lynden fair. He died five days later from his injuries. #GoneButNeverForgotten

Today we remember Trooper Jim Saunders. Trooper Saunders died on Oct. 7, 1999, at 31, from gunshot wounds while conducting a traffic stop in Pasco. At the time of his death, Trooper Saunders had served 8-1/2 years with the Washington State Patrol. #GoneButNeverForgotten

Today we remember Patrolman Henry Cossmann. On Oct. 9, 1929, Patrolman Cossmann was involved in a motorcycle collision in Tacoma. He was transported to a local hospital and never regained consciousness, tragically succumbing to his injuries. #GoneButNeverForgotten

US 97 is closed both directions at MP 164 the summit of Blewett Pass due to heavy snowfall, disabled semis and collisions. There is no estimated time for reopening.
