Last week was a week of experiments in Year 4 within their Journeys topic. On Tuesday, as part of our solids, liquids and gases study, the children investigated the way in which a gas can be used to inflate a balloon.

In year 4 on Friday, in DT the children were investigating the different strengths of an arch bridge compared to a beam bridge. This experiment allowed the children the chance to consider which is the best design for a bridge.

Year 3 had a fun session with Dr Amy from UCL to explore fossils. Children looked at what is a fossil, how it's formed and at the end children acted as a palaeontologist and also get to wear 3d glasses!

Today year 3 travelled back in time to the Stone Age! We met the British Museum online, drew and explored cave paintings and other ideas of Stone Age life. All of the children looked amazing in their costumes!

Thank you to our wonderful kitchen team for their hard work in feeding everyone their Christmas Lunches today. Over 400 hundred roast dinners served and they were yummy!

Dolphins have planted a seed in a bag each to watch it grow for our Plants vs Humans Topic. Today we were very excited to discover that some of them have started to grow! We can see some shoots and roots starting to appear!

Our children achieved something truly remarkable at the SMASH Badminton 2023/24 Regional Championship! Representing Warfield Primary, they won the GOLD medal at the Edgbarrow School. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!

As part of World Book day, Year 3 had a visit from the award-winning author ,Michael Morpurgo ,live from South Africa about his book 'Butterfly Lion'. The children thoroughly enjoyed the story and were intrigued by his pet 'Swimzy'.

Year 3 started their STEM week with an interactive workshop about plants, parts of flower and pollination, conducted by Emma and her colleagues from Baaylab Reading . Children loved the hands-on activities and got to make their own seed balls to take home.

For STEM week, Nursery had a special session ''The Rock Stars of History'' Live from Oxford University Natural history museum with Dr Chris and Dr Emma about fossils and dinosaurs. Children were in awe at the dinosaur facts shared by our guests.

Year 4 had a visit from Becky Patel from Techshecan as part of our STEM extravaganza. She shared some interesting facts in the Tech for Sustainable Transport. Children looked at career choices and asked the guest scientists some exciting questions.

We made it! A quick lunch and we're already off exploring beautiful Chesil Beach 🔎🔎

Future Bear Grylls in the making! Making our own fires and cooking bread (and a few marshmallows) over them at the beach. Now it's time for a little Murder Mystery to end the evening 🕵‍♂️🕵‍♀️

Rise and shine! Day 2 and we've got an action packed day. 🐘 class are off to climb and abseil on the beautiful Portland coast while 🦒 class are going to kayak and SUP board around the harbour. Lots of excited children this morning!

Nothing like a bit of 'Sharky Sharky, Fishy Fishy' to warm you up in the morning!
