This is illegal to build in DC, but @brianneknadeau has a bill to make it legal. Email your CM and the at-large CMs to let them know you support the One Front Door Act! x.com/andersem/statu…

Local DC post for the day, but it's insane how successful the transit-oriented development around NoMA has been. The station is now ~50% busier than it was in 2019, despite overall metro ridership still being down. This year, it's busier than Dupont Circle or Columbia Heights

Why are Environmentalist NIMBYs always rabidly pro parking lot!? You could provide the most beautiful, environmentally friendly development on earth to replace an abandoned parking lot and without fail, some non-profit environmentalist group will swoop in to kill it.

.DC Office of Planning just released results of their DC 2050 survey and I think it's safe to say YIMBYs made their voices heard. Let's upzone massively in the comp plan!

This sort of input makes a huge difference and is how we push for the change we want. If you have a minute today, send an email in support of more housing in Chevy Chase. Instructions below!

Despite the wild costs to live there, Chevy Chase NIMBYs want to prevent any new housing in their neighborhood. Help us fix that 👇

This is underappreciated- apartments allow so many people to live in DC but don't take up much space. Apartments are 70% of our housing stock but just 20% of our residential buildings. (Also love the assist from the capital down under. Hope to visit Canberra one day!)

it’s cool how building dense housing near transit solves like 5 problems at once 1) increases transit ridership + revenue 2) makes housing more affordable 3) reduces carbon emissions 4) boosts economic growth 5) raises local tax revenues

Here's another budget tidbit that's of some consequence: Mayor Muriel Bowser wants to restrict who can appeal a decision from the Zoning Commission or Board of Zoning Adjustment. She wants to limit who has standing to appeal, how quickly they need to appeal, and require they post bond.

Ward 3 (and everywhere else in DC - this is a public piece of land!) still time to send a comment to [email protected] letting him know you support housing for a range of income levels at the Chevy Chase Civic Core (library & community center) site!

So-called “Inclusionary Zoning”—the practice of requiring homebuilders to rent some percentage of new apartments at a loss—is bad policy that lets elected Democrats pretend to care about poor people while NIMBYing new housing, worsening the housing shortage, and raising rents.

The entire county of Japan runs on 12 zoning types. The City of Los Angeles alone has 37 base zones plus 50+ overlays and specific plans. There are over 30,000 unique zoning codes in the USA. Even if the average city/county only has 12 zones, that’s still 360,000 zoning types

Really interesting census map showing where homes were built in DC from 2020-2024. Can't help but notice that so little has been built in our most expensive neighborhoods.
