I received a letter today from an orthopaedic surgeon explaining that their patient had significant wear and tear type arthritis of the knee. They have asked me to refer the patient... to an orthopaedic surgeon.

As awful as this is...it doesn't tell us anything those in authority within the NHS and DHSC didn't already know. It is to their shame it continues and has done for years.

If a test result is abnormal, rather than sending a message to the patient to book an appointment (which you know they can't as GP phone lines and appointments are always full) - call the patient directly. Everyone wins from this.
