I think media tends to go for allergies over phobias when it wants a character consistently be away from them for whatever reason. I don't mind either, just hope it gets an interesting use over a quick gag.

Hard not to imagine it as part of either an educational or "random objects gallore" kind of show, as there's no real reason to have a giant reptile walking around more than pinpoint said trait to the public as running gag. Hard to work with around, but can still 'feel' useful.
