ATTENTION to fans of The Holdovers: if you are considering a holiday season rewatch, please also consider Hal Ashby’s 1973 The Last Detail, a noted influence. A shaggy winter hangout movie about an unlikely connection between a bastard & a troubled young man. Textured, funny, sad

Top Secret (1984) The Swedish bookstore scene was reversed. If you play the scene the way it was filmed, all the dialogue is correct except Hillary asks for a book called Europe On Five Quaaludes A Day. I've posted the original, then the reversed version. This is amazing.

Hot take: I think Sam Raimi’s scariest and most well developed film is A Simple Plan (1998), a film that posits that the true horror is not found in demons, but in the avarice of ordinary people, who will kill their loved ones and friends with barely a second thought. Masterful.

In The Deer Hunter (1978), Corporal Nikanor 'Nick' Chevotarevich, portrayed by Christopher Walken, has a haunting breakdown in a military hospital. This intense scene captures the profound psychological toll of war, showcasing Walken's powerful, emotional performance.

Gene Hackman and Michael Rooker appreciation moment from Mississippi Burning (1988). Hackman's intense stance—grabbing his belt—is iconic. Only Hackman could out-tough and out-intimidate Rooker in such a charged scene.

In 1970 5th-grade students at Hawthorne School in Beverly Hills were assigned to write a letter to someone they admired, asking them “What makes a good citizen?" So 10yr old Joel Lipton wrote to Peanuts cartoonist CHARLES M. SCHULZ - born 102yrs ago today. Joel got a reply.

Comedy legend Jim Abrahams, the mastermind behind Airplane!, The Naked Gun, Ruthless People , Top Secret and more, has passed away at 80. Known for redefining comedy with the Zucker brothers, his work brought laughter to millions. RIP to a true genius of zany humour.

My friend Jim Abrahams passed away today. What a delight he was, in every way. We met on Airplane! 45 years ago. Jerry, David and Jim were the geniuses….

"I thought it was the greatest film I ever made. It wasn't made for the oh-so-bored critics or the oh-so-jaded literati. It was my kind of film for my kind of people." - Frank Capra IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) #JamesStewart #LionelBarrymore
