You gotta understand, right now those guys up in the C-Suite with their fancy suits and $100 cigars are reading your code and laughing at you. You know why they're laughing? Their laughing because of how poorly you batch your RPCs.

@fishjourner Stuart Khan Unfortunately some things end up down there that don’t belong there: wet wipes, cotton buds, cooking oils, social media platforms etc. But we’ve still got to deal with them.

I have, at times, really loved my job. Even looked forward to Monday mornings (not that I ever disliked weekends!). I can never think of a time when I would have actively wanted to be there at 1:30am or thought it was a good idea.

You’re actually trialling it for everyone, and it sucks. I won’t repeat what the real life checkout assistant who had to deal with all the false positives thought of it..

My Brother printer reckoned this waste toner box (top removed) was “full” and refused to print. Fortunately it’s trivial to change the physical “sensors” and put it back in, no problem.

Hey Optus Help, I have a 5G home internet connection and no mobile services through you. My home internet was affected by your outage and I could not work. I notice you’re giving free data to mobile customers, what about home internet? I haven’t received any comms whatsoever.

Seems everybody is migrating their search and recommendation systems from Elastic to Vespa now. Here's the experience of Stanby, Japan's leading job search site: blog.vespa.ai/migrating-to-t…

Announcing generative LLMs in Vespa Over the last six months, we have invested heavily in integrating LLMs into the core Vespa engine, simplifying search deployments, and allowing developers to choose between local (GGUF) inferencing and external LLM providers with similar APIs.
