A delicate looking blue ring octopus. It is hiding some sort of prey in the bulge between its arms. The autofocus was not very cooperative for this video unfortunately

Sometimes you don't even need a microscope to see cell phenotypes. Induced pluripotent heart cells can be seen beating in their wells. (video by Jessica M. Gluck, PhD)

Male anglerfishes and females don't look anything alike. Females are the recognizable "deep sea monsters" with big teeth, a "fishing pole” (the illicium), and a glowing lure at the end of the illicium (the esca). Males are tiny in comparison and lack all of the above features.

Flatworms are protostomes, but they don’t have an anus. My understanding of protostome is “mouth forms first, then anus.” Am I working from a bad definition of protostome, or do flatworms do something weird?

A couple weeks ago, the #shrimpsquad presented our preliminary research to other 1512L research groups! We loved sharing about our shrimp, anemones, and mutualistic systems with everyone and learning about their projects as well.
