Tonight - UNB Men’s Hockey is shutout for only the 2nd time in 10 years, first time on the road since Oct ‘23 (0-3 @ SMU) and before that it was Oct ‘15 (0-2 @ SMU). This is only the 3rd SFX shutout of UNB since 67/68. SFX won 3-0 Jan. ‘04 at home and 4-0 at the AUC (Exh) Oct. ‘05

SFX is the first AUS opponent to defeat UNB Men’s Hockey in two straight meetings since they did it in 18-19 - they won G26 (3-2) and the previous meeting G22 (4-2). UNB would win their last meeting G29 (8-2) and win the AUS title in 2 straight over X (5-1 & 7-1) and UCup Semi (9-1)

Since COVID, UNB Men’s Hockey are 19-0 vs ACD (H 9-0, V 10-0) with a GFA of 4.79 and GAA of 1.31. Three Shutouts, 2 OT Wins and 1 Shootout Win. Their last playoff meeting was the '20 AUS Finals, UNB won the Best of Three (2-1); 1-3, 6-0, 5-1.

Coach Hennigar's first playoff series is against the same opponent as Coach Mac's (2001) - Acadia. Coach Mac won the Best of Three 2-to-1 (1-5, 4-3, 3-1)

UNB is trying to complete the UCup three-peat which hasn't occurred since 1980. Alberta won three in a row in the late 70's (78-79-80). Six teams have had the chance in that span - this is the seventh such try which is also UNB's second attempt (they won B2B in '16-'17).

I recently finished a year-long migration from using dBase III/QBasic (how it started) to MySql/php (how it’s going) for player/team stats. It took a long time but it’s been fun solving ‘how to’ challenges along the way - a lot easier to update - same look, different back office

The first ranking in 31 weeks where UNB Men’s Hockey is not #1. They still rein when it comes to 'weeks ranked' - they have been in the Top 10 for 338 weeks in a row - every week for the past 20 years (start of 2005-06) season

Last time UNB played on the road on Halloween was Oct 2014 - 3-2 Win over StFX

Moncton’s win on Friday was their first win at the AUC in 13 years going back to Oct. 13, 2012. Over that span UNB was 35-0 (26-0 RS, 7-0 PO and 2-0 Ex) - 8 of which were Shutouts. GFA 5.4 and GAA 1.3. Also 6 national titles 😊
