At just 22, John Booth was taken as a PoW in Singapore. He survived double leg amputation without anaesthetic, returned home, raised a family, and walked on prosthetics for 70 years. A proud Blesma Member from 1946 until his passing in 2016. #VJDay80 #NeverForgotten

10 years ago, we visited Thailand and travelled to the Bridge over the River Kwai and to Hellfire Pass where the Australians had to chisel through rock in awful conditions. I wondered then, as I wonder today, how any of those lads survived and returned home. #ww2 #VJ80 #vjday2025

We’re deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Tom Jones, a WWII veteran, who died peacefully aged 103. Tom served in the Far East in 1942, in extremely tough conditions, before returning home to work as a bus and tanker driver. Our thoughts are with his loved ones.
