breaking news 🤝 boring news it’s official: early yesterday morning, our Shoreline Storage Tunnel boring machine broke through its final shaft wall, finishing its 2.6-mile underground journey. right on the money.

it’s baaaaack. 🏗️ after nearly two years underground, the cutterhead from the Shoreline Storage Tunnel began its 100-foot ascent around 3PM today. since late 2022, this cutterhead has mined over 3 miles worth of soft-ground. our first soft-ground tunnel project, ever.

McNally Tunneling Corp., a subsidiary of Kiewit, reached a major milestone on the Shoreline Storage Tunnel Project. After boring over 14,000 feet of tunnel, Avery, the project’s earth pressure balance boring machine, reached the final retrieval shaft.
