The University of Massachusetts Padron-Craig lab #Cryo-EM paper (Dutta et al.) back-to-back with Raunser lab #Cryo-ET (Tamborrini et al.): an example of complementarity and reproducibility of these #EM techniques. Dutta et al shorturl.at/mwU16 Tamborrini et al shorturl.at/itvB6

Here w/ The Arany lab we reveal another piece of the puzzle of how #titin mutations cause DCM! Quentin shows (in patient 💔) that truncated titin is made, incorporates into the sarcomere and bears load upon stretch… but not as well as full length titin! tinyurl.com/3uu6cfhe

Novel Imaging Approaches to Cardiac Manifestations of Systemic Inflamm... sciencedirect.com/science/articl… Congratulations on this JACC scientific statement Monica Mukherjee MD, MPH and Brittany Weber and coauthors! JHHecho Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center Johns Hopkins Cardiology

Myofibril relaxation kinetics vary among HFpEF models, implying unique sarcomeric contributions to diastolic dysfunction. #AHAJournals #ResearchLetter Johns Hopkins Cardiology ahajrnls.org/3SmHwLs

📢 Interested in bench - bedside - back #FunctionNotFailure 🫀 research, cardiac metabolism, glycobiology and clinical proteomics 🧪🔬?? My lab Johns Hopkins Cardiology is looking for a talented T-32 post-doc to join us! Visit hopkinsmedicine.org/heart_vascular… and msg if interested! 🙏 re-post!

Really excited to announce our work using controlled MyBP-C cleavage in skeletal muscle is now published open access in Nature Communications! Samantha Harris and I agreed to this collab in September 2022 and now complete! Ask any Qs in the comments! 👨🔬👩🔬🔬💪 nature.com/articles/s4146…

Very glad to share the most recent publication from the MuscleX_Lab at Journal of Physiology to show that fast skeletal muscle is optimized for rapid contractions, and the slow cardiac muscle is more finely tuned to allow for the cardiac reserve physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1113/JP…

Excited to help Alex Lewalle and Cardiac Electro-Mechanics Research Group with this paper which suggests that using an SRX to DRX transition accelerated by force is a good way to simulate myocardial mechanics. Lots of mechanistic questions left :-) sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

HFpEF myocardium displays a robust reduction in proximal glycolytic, HBP, PPP metabolites and enzymes. Importantly, this profile persisted after adjustment for BMI, DM, age, and sex. Read the full article here: bit.ly/4cAlM5X @dkassjhu Johns Hopkins Cardiology

Very nice to see the work between MuscleX_Lab at Illinois Tech and RegnierLab F Moussavi-Harami, MD at University of Washington finally published in Journal of General Physiology. It has been a very long and productive collaboration and more papers in the making!!!

Thick filament structural changes in the presence of calcium. From Saffie Mohran, Weikang Ma & colleagues MuscleX_Lab Illinois Tech showing that calcium has a direct effect on thick filament activation in porcine myocardium: hubs.la/Q02QLtSp0 #Myofilaments #CardiacMuscle

Not that this ever happens 😏, but what if you can’t get good PCWPs during invasive exercise RHC? Lean instead on Ex PAC & RAPs to distinguish pre- & post-cap disease. Kudos to ⭐️ The Osler Medical Residency Dr. Maggie Montovano for this great work! pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11…

Very productive run at Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source with Vivek Jani and Marcus. We collect patterns from human heart tissue (HFpEF, HFrEF, HCM, SVD) probably for the first time ever there, and more patterns from animal hearts. Looking forward to come back soon!!!
