Hello from NYC, the city that always makes news, good or bad. Right now, it’s both. We have a bad COVID-19 situation, but at least we have a good governor, so we’re making the best of it. Yet I think I speak for many when I say I wish I had a way to help. #coronavirus #cuomo

There’s no way the government stimulus is going to restore the economy. The $ figure is huge, but the damage is vast & long-lasting. The amount per person & small business (under 500 employees) is nowhere near enough. Without more ammo, we’re going to lose this war. #coronavirus

We should have worn surgical masks right away 2 help prevent catching & spreading the disease, not just the latter. Social distancing isn’t enough, esp. indoors. I think authorities wanted 2 save masks 4 health care workers & we’re all paying a price 4 this thinking. #coronavirus

Authorities say surgical masks are no help 2 prevent catching the disease. But they help 2 prevent spreading it? So does the virus blow right thru or not? I see why it’s better 2 save N95's for where they’re needed most, but it’s also better 2 have fewer patients. #coronavirus

So sorry to learn that the USDA Veterinary Services has confirmed a case of COVID-19 in a tiger here in NYC at the Bronx Zoo. Other tigers and lions are showing symptoms, but only one was tested because collection of a sample in big cats requires general anesthesia. #coronavirus

It's inspiring to be a New Yorker at 7 pm every day, when windows all over the city slide open, and we whistle & shout & clap our appreciation for our brave, selfless health care workers who head back into the line of fire day after day. We are so grateful for them! #coronavirus

Three astronauts landed back on Earth from the International Space Station on Friday. What a time to return. I think I would have rather stayed in space. #coronavirus

Shame on Harvard for taking $8 million in government funds as part of the CARES Act Emergency Relief Fund. They say they will commit all the funds to students in need due to COVID-19. Oh, how generous of them! Why aren’t they using their $40 billion endowment fund? #coronavirus

The 7 pm nightly cacophony of cheers, whistles, shouts, & noisemakers from windows & balconies & rooftops all over New York City gets louder every day. Indescribable. This is one of the best times to be a New Yorker & will stay in my memory for the rest of my life. #coronavirus

On a bright blue spring day, watching the US Navy Blue Angels and US Air Force Thunderbirds fly over NYC to honor the workers on the front lines of the pandemic. And thinking of all the loved ones lost. Can anyone remain dry-eyed? So sad and yet so proud. #coronavirus

We’d get better mask compliance if pols would stop promoting the fiction that masks are intended 2 prevent the wearer from spreading disease. It’s obvious masks are mainly intended 2 stop the wearer from catching it. Why do they think health-care workers wear them? #coronavirus

I see our dear Governor Cuomo is offering 2 help states with high infection rates, now that our own state has gone from being an epicenter of disease to a model of containment. This sounds perilously like gloating! Let's hope they don't become famous last words, sir! #coronavirus

At my fave BBQ place: Server: Ooh, I love your eyebrows. Do u thread? Me: No, I just pencil them on. This is the eyebrow of the day. Server: I think I overthreaded. See? (Points to a spot.) Me: Oh, no u didn't! Your eyebrows are nice & full. Perfect for u! Husband: Can we order?

So it looks like the most common small-talk line among people who live in NYC is, "What you looking forward to most after the #pandemic is over?" Well, I know my own answer: fries. As in hot and crispy. Not the kind that are DOA.

Lessons Learned: If no offense is intended, never take offense. And if offense IS intended, never, never take offense. This drives would-be offenders nuts, which is always nice.

Yes, we all love Ken Jennings, and he would make a great Jeopardy! host. But before that's official, couldn't we please have just one week of Dolly Parton as a guest host? I mean, who wouldn't watch? Could be some of the best television EVER.
