Saying there’s no time or money for music and the arts because pupils have to focus on more important subjects is like saying there’s no time or money for a healthy diet because the pupils have to focus on bread.

The cost of not providing Music Education to each and every young person significantly outweighs the cost of actually providing it. Music educates the whole child and it’s an essential component in ensuring the health and wellbeing of so many young people.

Music Education is for life. It’s for our personal lives. It’s for our social lives. It’s for our family lives. It’s for our professional lives. It’s for the challenges and the celebrations in our lives. It’s for whatever is needed in our lives. Music helps us get through life.

Whether they become a musician or not isn’t the point. The point is to instil them with a love of music. The point is to give them the ability to take a musical instrument wherever they go in life and use it as a means of expression, connection, and comfort. That’s the point.
