Whenever I'm asked to give feedback to peoples cinematic work I seem to always run into the same issue. Nobody wants to sell anything happening outside the camera frame with audio/lighting/effects. Maybe its just me but everything feels so narrow?

I did this technique back in Mass Effect 2 for one of the N7 missions. The rocking ship that you're standing on and falls off the cliff never actually moves in gameplay or cutscenes. I just animated the mountains and sky around it.

Another fun little Mass Effect behind the scenes. When I was setting up the pizza volus we realised that there was no plan for an actual pizza box model. So I quickly squished down an ammo crate to the shape of one to look like a "themed" box.

Ex Bioware dev here. I'm responsible for some of the "Bioware Turns". This anim is part of a set called "Posebreakers" which are intended to move characters around the area if a scene is feeling too static. We'd combine them with the infamous "Exit Left/Right" between cuts.
