Sir Syed was greatly inspired by Mill and Locke. He was anything but fundamentalist. And yes, Hindu nationalism predates Muslim nationalism. Sir Syed called Muslims separate nation of same country in 1880s. Brahmins were saying Hindus were separate & India only theirs since 1860s

amitMarkandey Katju Turning mullah or overly religious is one thing but none of them said anything like this. What people do in their life is their business. People don't need approval from others to become mullah or pundits or whatever they wish to become.
