An Evacuation Alert has been issued by the Village of Chase Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), effective as of August 18, 2023 at 6:00 pm due to the Bush Creek wildfire. For more information, please visit chasebc.ca

The Village of Chase remains on evacuation ALERT. At this time, the winds are light. Chase and Pritchard firefighters, along with the CP water train attended some small spot fires west of the Squilax Bridge earlier today. We will continue to provide info via Voyent Alert & FB.

The BCWS structure protection branch is engaged in 24/7 operations on the fire. Night patrol and fire suppression occur from Magna Bay to Turtle Valley along roadways and neighbourhoods.

The latest operational update as of 8:30 p.m. (PDT): Little Shuswap:  • Crews in the Loakin-Bear Creek area are focused on establishing guard, mopping up and removing unburnt fuel along the Loakin-Bear Creek Road.

There is currently increased fire activity in this area, and the local fire department is working with BC Wildfire Service with a task force of three engines and two water tenders. An Initial Attack crew will support overnight.

Turtle Valley • Initial Attack crew, structure protection task force, and heavy equipment task force are working in this area. Line locators are guiding machine guard construction. A Unit Crew will be in the area reinforcing the machine line and working the fire’s perimeter.
