Working from home day 1 : My new coworkers are much crankier than the usual ones.

Really great to see the sara stock doing well without me checking on them a million times a day 😂. This morning I spotted three freshly emerged adults, with the two females mating immediately with waiting males. #heliconius #butterfly

Lots of activity in the butterfly cage the other day, shame the video doesn't do the blue wing colours justice 🦋

Male H. sara butterflies guarding female pupae. A flying male tries to nestle his way in but has no luck. Quite interesting to see the guarding males open up their wings when he approaches and then some close them slowly as he moves on.
