Female NHS staff aged 51 to 65 are more likely to be carers. 1 in 3 NHS staff are carers compared to 1 in 11 in the population. This has significant implications for retention and reminds us there still is much to do to bridge the gender gap especially in leadership roles

One word ratings should never have been mimicked by CQC and can say with confidence that I challenged the introduction of them at the time internally. It oversimplifies the complex and can give false assurance. I hope CQC follows Ofsted on this as it followed in introduced

My mother died when I was a child and I patch the memories together as I have all my life but the gap has always been there. Even if we can’t find cures for forms of leukaemia, we can find better ways to support. Over 40 years now. Always with me as a loss if not a memory.

There may come a point in life where you have to choose between the appearance of goodness and actual goodness. For me it was October 7th. My heritage plays a large role in why I have been vocal about antisemitism since then. But in fact, more fundamentally, it comes down to…

The Grenfell disaster laid bare a sad truth. It showed us that people living in social housing were not listened to, no matter how much they tried to speak up. Change will only come if we tackle the culture that too often treats social housing tenants like an afterthought 👇🏾

Deeply troubling. Telling staff not to attend training to understand antisemitism is quite an ‘error’ and does little to reassure Jewish patients and staff. Mistakes happen. But behind mistakes can lie institutional racism and human prejudice. telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/09/0…

The rows of empty benches in this & the next post speak volumes about the low political priority given to #socialcare. Unless this changes nothing will change.

It’s abhorrent & sadly predictable. Any parent who’s fought for child’s service knows the feeling that doing so may be held against you - or worse, your child. Mother blaming, defensive practice, splitting or “picking off” to “isolate” is systemic. (And yes, not always).
