It's important to remember that Quarkus results are making uses a full-fat ORM (in its latestish version), which, for CPU bound tests like this with simple queries, has impacts
And I think that the http Vertx/Netty/improvements should be rightly give to Julien Viet and Richard Startin (check richardstartin.github.io/posts/finding-…) - small things placed in the right place can make HUGE difference:)
