The Guardian is warning that the Chancellor is about to unleash a tide of destruction against protected snails. You might have more sympathy for Rachel Reeves than you expect. Along the way, let me teach you how to seize control of half a county with a sheet of A4.

This is BEYOND insane: AI compute demand is now growing at over 2 TIMES the rate of Moore’s Law, creating a massive shortage. Just to meet current demand, $500 billion must be invested in data centers PER YEAR until 2030. What does this mean? Let us explain. (a thread)

Here's what that means for taxpayers. Every one of those 25,000 pupils costs the state £8,200 per year to educate, while Treasury loses the VAT they would have paid. The combined hit is already approximately £300 million annually.

In the near future, your Tesla will drop you off at the store entrance and then go find a parking spot. When you’re ready to exit the store, just tap Summon on your phone and the car will come to you.

The productivity collapse came in 2008 with the financial crash, after 10 years of Labour. You can't even see Brexit in the chart (from a House of Lords report).

The UK 🇬🇧 is in economic collapse. The people who start business and invest in the economy are fleeing at a rate unseen anywhere else in the western world. The govt is supported by voters entirely dependent on the welfare state, and those who fund the welfare state are exiting.

Liz Kendall's statement on Digital ID is more far-reaching than Starmer implied, required to access child care, benefits, housing support, to rent or buy a home, buy a pint, join a library, enrol your children in school, to apply for a job, open a bank account and in her own

Key points: - Unaffordable to build in 1/2 of London *even if the land were free* - Private construction <5k in 2025 (vs 88k benchmark) - 90% of unbuilt planning permissions are 18m+, aka the Building Safety Regulator death zone - 'Completions are set to disappear after 2027'

The huge 500MW solar farm Ed Miliband approved yesterday will use 3,200 acres of farmland. It will produce electricity just 10% of the time. A nuclear plant would produce over sixty times more electricity, using just 200 acres. It can run 24/7. Land density matters.

There’s an awful symmetry between ‘even if we cut the land costs to zero we couldn’t afford to build in London’ and ‘even if we cut the wholesale price of energy to zero bills might not fall’. Bad policies -> disastrous outcomes.

🚨EXCLUSIVE The firm at the heart of Britain's critical minerals strategy has ditched plans for a rare earths refinery in the UK, and will build it in the US instead. It's a serious blow to the Chancellor and her plans for "securonomics" ahead of next month's Budget👇

If you think higher affordable housing requirements guarantee more affordable housing, then you (a) have completely misunderstood the economics of housebuilding, and (b) are inadvertently failing to help those who can't afford to live in London.
