There aren't enough words to describe the trailblazing legacy of James Earl Jones. I grew up as the shy kid, often afraid to speak. His journey of overcoming a stutter and becoming one of the most iconic speakers of all time resonates very deeply with me.

It's been a rough start of the week for the voice acting community as we not only lost James Earl Jones yesterday, but also Peter Renaday (voice of Splinter from the 1987 TMNT series) and Emi Shinohara (Japanese voice for Sailor Jupiter). May they all rest in peace.

One of my favorite voice roles by James Earl Jones was on the "Yes, Mikey, Santa Does Shave" two-parter episode of Disney's Recess as the voice of Santa Claus. Gotta love the twist they did with Santa Claus here. #RIPJamesEarlJones #JamesEarlJones

You may have seen clips of James Earl Jones doing the ABC's on Sesame Street, but did you know he has made several appearances on Sesame Street throughout the years as he was the first guest on the show. In fact, he even did a promo for Sesame Street when it was about to debut

It still amazes people when finding out that for James Earl Jones and his epic voice role as Darth Vader in the first Star Wars movie that it only took him two and a half hours to complete his lines. From Late Night w/ Conan O'Brien, Dec. 14, 1995. #RIPJamesEarlJones

I always like to spotlight rare voice roles by my favorite VAs and this one is no exception: here is James Earl Jones as the voice of "Great P.I. of the Universe" in the 1994 cult classic PC game Under A Killing Moon. #RIPJamesEarlJones #UnderaKillingMoon #JamesEarlJones

My cue to remind you all that this moment where Ast. cries was NOT scripted. Neil felt his heart go this way in the moment and that rawness was done in one take. I chose not to make him do it again as I wanted to make sure this lightning was captured in the proverbial bottle.

To be blessed with success as a voice actor is to also be cursed, w/ having to decide between taking on the work being offered, and actually giving yourself the time/opportunity to enjoy the very media or life scenarios you’re being asked to truthfully bring to life in the booth.
