David Darcy (Sam's grandfather) did not play State of Origin football. SOO football commenced in 1977. David Darcy retired in 1973. He played state representative football representing the Victoria because he played in the VFL, not because his origins were in Victoria.

When people say ‘what has become of our country’ the man in the white shirt is who we are. Not the black shirt. Horrible things happen in this world, committed by horrific people. What we are is how we respond.

I’ve given The Ashes more thought - what I mentioned a while back about batting techniques is ringing louder and louder. Reemphasising previous opinion, that they’re simply not being built on the foundations of defence. It’s so good to see other former players now acknowledging

Outstanding from Greg Chappell, describing the attitude from both sides as “Appalling!” “blaming the pitch rather than their own frailties. Few put their body on the line, gesturing, laughing and cursing as they departed as if the surface was unplayable.” smh.com.au/sport/cricket/…

Greg Chappell’s analysis of the state of play ex the MCG batting ineptitude is worth reading. I can hear Curtly Ambrose opining on the West Indies batting more loudly now. It’s contagious in our white ball mania….”maan, Dey don’t block ‘em anymore🏏”. Put respect first.

So the metro tunnel…. It’s just for people wanting to get into the central part of the city or travel through the city. And those going to the top or bottom of the city, they now have a worse travel experience with 1-2 extra changes? I’m not sure there is a net benefit of this

To me cricket is a contest between bat and ball. Watching people swing through the line and hitting sixes over 50 yard boundaries is not the game I love.
