On Sunday I was proud to speak to VFW Post 9274 in Falls Church about how gratitude for our veterans must turn into action all year, to help veterans transition successfully to civilian life, connect to opportunity, and ensure no veteran feels left behind. Happy Veterans Day!

I’m grateful for the sacrifices of so many, including my father-in-law, retired Lt. Col. Cliff Lewis, and my mother-in-law, retired Lt. Col. Connie Reeves, both Army veterans. And here, with Air Force veteran and dear friend, Del. Marty Martinez, whose service is an inspiration.

It was an honor to attend the annual Veterans Day celebration at the George C. Marshall International Center in Leesburg. We pay tribute to the sacrifice and heroism of our nation’s veterans — those who commit so much to preserve the cause of American freedom.

I'm planning to introduce a bill soon that would probably make this illegal in Virginia. Seeing other lawmakers racing to take advantage of new technology in clearly immoral ways is beyond politics and should be condemned. Mike Collins should apologize.
