My DigiRig arrived today, and thanks to the excellent setup video by Mike K8MRD, my Xiegu G90 works perfectly on FT8. Made a contact with ZS1WC on the southern tip of S. Africa and CT3MD on Madeira Island (Portugal) on 15 watts! Saturday I'll have a GPS dongle and I'll be mobile.

Powering the G90 with an 18v DeWalt drill battery. The buck converter is set to output 14v. I'm not sure how long one battery will last on FT8 but I have two, and they charge blazingly fast.

People in the hobby for 40+ years tell me their clubs are dying and no one is interested in #hamradio because of cell phones. Yet I see hundreds of new licenses being granted weekly with lots of young fresh blood coming in. We’ve gotta find a way to bridge the gap.

The shack on the weekends when I'm at the cabin in K7 land. I have to use CW to check into the Aurora Net on 7100 because phone is out of band when in Montana. Also lots of POTA activity on 20 m. QRP hunting is a bit more challenging.
