third and last day of the first #heatwave of 2025, the hottest in a decade being yesterday with Central Park touching 99F. Streets and parks are unusually empty, hydrants on every street I biked on are micro cooling, bras are staying in the bedroom drawer, A/C the guilty pleasure

Yes weather models may not be able to predict such localized extreme rainfall events. That’s why imo every household should buy a cheap old fashioned #pluviometer to monitor rain as it falls. local weather service + emergency mgm can raise awareness abt risky rain thresholds

Second day of a new #heatwave in NYC, 98F at noon (feels 116). My clothes dried in 30min outside. Five subway lines are down due to an #MTA power outage. My flatmate turns on the oven to 400F to warm up a savory pastry. I’m waging a small campaign on #systemoverload with her.

Oh summers already are a dreadful alternating of heatwaves, power outages, intense rainfall, subway flood watch… when will the tipping point for the MTA come?

#climatechange summer in #NYC, this time in the key of #wildfire haze from #Canada. the air is thicker, sundown casts orange lights and you can’t quite tell what time of the day it is. 700 active fires and v few are under control. winds will turn but they’ll keep blazing.

Z’s campaign is building mountain high hopes in New Yorkers ❤️‍🔥. But it’s important for ppl to understand the success of his mandate will depend on pushing Governor Kathy Hochul to facilitate the #taxtherich and #housethefuture policies for any of his plans to see the light of day!
