Artist Benkov travelled through Uzbekistan's cities looking for artistic inspiration. He was drawn by the secluded corners of traditional mahalla, courtyards with trestle beds and vines, rich greens, streets between clay houses in villages, & local residents’ aesthetics.

Chingiz Akhmarov's paintings are on display in numerous art collections, including the Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan, Museum of Applied Arts, Navoi State Museum of Literature, 7 Kokand Literature Museum. ’Portrait of a Girl’ (1977).

Tashkent-born Ural Tansykbayev was one of the founders of contemporary fine art in Uzbekistan. His evocative, richly coloured works include 'The Nomad' (1931).
