Nic, who debates on the negative, concludes that being an officer is dangerous and they need to be able to defend themselves.

Our featured speaker, Jonathan Warren, highlights the importance of local data on police gun violence.

Dr. Warren says the argument that sergeants should be able to carry firearms "is too abstract" without an explanation of police structure.

Dr. Warren also states that despite the negative's argument, firearms do not necessarily aid in the deescalation of dangerous situations.

Our program director Dr. Michael Souders concludes the forum by explaining the value of debate as a part of the college experience.
