Lab director Silvia Blemker had the honor of being featured on the awesome Biomechanics On Our Minds Podcast (BOOM) podcast -- a "power"ful avenue for sharing the "boom"ing field biomechanics with the world! #muscleiscool Virginia BME

Congratulations to M3 lab member Ridhi Sahani Ridhi Sahani for winning the All-University Graduate Teaching award, recognizing her outstanding, “dynamic” co-teaching of BME 2220 Biomechanics as UVA Engineering teaching fellow! What an amazing “moment” for an amazing person!

Can muscle models be applied to winning at tug of war?? The UVA M3 Lab knows, but we'll never share our secrets! Thanks to friends from the Chris Highley, Mohammad Fallahi-Sichani, and UVA EASIL labs for helping us "pull" off yet another Virginia BME tug of war tournament title!!

Can muscle models also be applied to coming 'up' with award winning gingerbread houses?? Apparently yes, because the UVA M3 Lab also won the BME 2023 gingerbread competition, with a beautiful 'model' of the house from the movie "Up"! Virginia BME

Our own Megan Haase is a 'role' 'model' for how to 'fuse' experiments and models to advance muscle science. Her Orthopaedic Research Society talk: "Coupling Experimental and Computational Methods for Insight into Estrogen’s Role in Skeletal Muscle Regeneration" was awesome! #muscleiscool

Introducing Dr. DiSalvo! From adding force-velocity to constitutive models to modeling superior constrictor muscle activation in the pharyngeal wall, Matt’s 'superior' defense talk 'transmitted' many contributions that will 'speed' up progress in the field! Virginia BME #muscleiscool

Introducing: Dr. McCrady! Allie McCrady, PhD’s defense talk describing her novel work imaging and modeling muscle in neuromuscular diseases was “ultra” high “quality”, filled with a large “quantity” of interesting findings with “strong” clinical implications! Virginia BME #muscleiscool
