Our research equipment for lake ice monitoring is all set up and the MacDonald Lake weather station serviced (and finally back online to send data to us!). Thanks Haliburton Forest for working with us on our lake ice projects! UTM Geography, Geomatics and Environment U of T Mississauga Now we just need some lake ice ❄️🧊

Excellent presentations by ReSEC Lab members at ArcticNet! Fantastic to see our latest research on lake ice and climate change impacts in (sub)Arctic ecosystems being shared with researchers and local communities. Congrats to the team on their valuable contributions! #ReSECLab

A wonderful keynote from Dr. John Smol at the #CRRC2025 Conference, where he explores how Arctic lakes and ponds have reached critical ecological thresholds due to climate warming. A very compelling paleoenvironmental assessment of the profound changes unfolding over time!🌍❄️

With 40+ students registered, the #CRRC2025 fieldwork workshop got students thinking ahead about how to be ready for their field season! 🏕️🧭 Covering often-overlooked essentials—knots, ratchet straps, GPS use, survival gear, and logistics—it was a great refresher for field prep!

Sloppy slush this year out on our research lakes means walking to the main site rather than driving, but the group managed to get some measurements anyway! A shout out to the trusty snow tube borrowed from Robin Thorne several years ago :D UTM Geography, Geomatics and Environment ❄️❄️
