Our flight nurses constantly train with the latest technology to bring the best care wherever it is needed. "The ability to transport patients on balloon pumps allows us to get the sickest cardiac patients to definitive care by helicopter or airplane." - Richard B Utarnachitt, MD

Our Juneau-based Pilatus Aircraft Ltd PC-12 on a flight in Skagway, Alaska. This aircraft cruises at 330 MPH, and can land at most rural airfields. It's a workhorse of a flying ICU, complete with a hydraulic crane. With its Swiss design, it's also got some style. #EMS Andrew Latimer

Safety, of our patients, pilots, and nurses, is our top priority. We train continuously to make sure we are as prepared as possible and to reduce risk on all our flights. Here are some photos from a recent training in Juneau, Alaska. #EMS

Overheard in our office today: “Working to improve your chain of survival isn’t easy. You can’t take your eye off the ball. People say it gets boring. How is saving lives boring?!” – Dr. Tom Rea (Here he is saving a manikin’s life.)

One of the most unique parts about the #UWashEMS Fellowship is the opportunity to serve as a flight physician with Airlift Northwest. Earlier this week @djsonstengphoto captured Dr. Betty Yang (Betty Yang, MD MS) headed back to base after dropping off a patient at UW Medicine. #EMSfellowship

Really proud of this work by Seattle Fire Dept. Medic One. Always working to improve patient care for the most critically ill patients in our community. The mantra of “measure and improve” definitely applied during this project. UW Emergency Medicine Harborview Medical Center
