FFSL and the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge collaborated on a prescribed burn in Bear River Bay and Unit 9 to manage invasive phragmites, which harm Great Salt Lake and the Refuge. Phragmites damage wildlife habitats, crowd out native plants, and limit water flow to the lake.

Last week, an unpermitted flag pole was installed atop Black Rock at the Great Salt Lake. The division is determining appropriate next steps regarding the flag pole's placement. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the incident.
