U.S. Mint officials weren't in favor of moving from Philadelphia to the newly established Federal City in Washington.📜Legislation extending the Mint’s stay appears throughout the early 1800’s. The Act of May 19, 1828, leaves it in Philadelphia “until otherwise provided by law.”
