Shaggy Parasol at Upper Fullingpits Wood. This former coppice once had an open structure, with a ground flora dominated by bluebell. Now high forest with a dense understorey of holly, yew, hazel, wild privet, dogwood, hawthorn, bramble & ivy. Biodiversity & biomass has increased.

Pond created last winter at inner-urban Buckland Hill Nature Reserve. It is already home for stoneworts, newts and a community of pioneer aquatic invertebrates. The pond was not planted or stocked, and though shallow retained water through the dry months of spring & early summer.

A fascinating discovery at the River Len Nature Reserve. A likely bird-sown Pokeweed (Phytolacca sp.) has appeared in an area of disturbed ground. As the plant matures it may be possible to determine the species.BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland Plantlife Kent Field Club Kent Wildlife Trust Bob Flowerdew

We are the indigenous population of that land, called Palestine. We are being wiped out by European settlers. Like they wiped out many indigenous populations before us. Their genocidal tools are slaughter, diseases, and famine. How little have they evolved.

Our ability to endure is beginning to collapse… We are living here in a hell that bears no resemblance to life. I see the children in the streets, their faces covered with rashes and sores, spreading across their small bodies like fire beneath the skin—caused by the extreme heat

Gaza’s drop in life expectancy is astronomically higher than during war/invasion in Afghanistan Iraq, Syria and Yemen. Why? Because Israel is committing genocide.

A contender for most beautiful animal found in the British Isles, the female Wasp Spider (Argiope bruennichi). Observed differences in the personalities of individual spiders are striking, some are very timid, others remarkably bold. BAS Buglife Kent Wildlife Trust
