Very sorry to hear that the conservationist & forest officer GV Reddy is no more. He did outstanding work in Rajasthan and also during a sabbatical in Indonesia. Soft spoken to a fault he was liked by the civil society and the forest department alike. May his soul rest in peace!

Happy to share a fantastic work from Harshith C Y part I of his PhD thesis, now in Cell Reports. We report a stepwise signalling cascade involving two different peptides in rice wound-responses. Rice activates growth very quickly post-wounding unlike dicots cell.com/cell-reports/f…

Dr. Reddy had touched the lives of so many wildlife conservationists. Most part of my work wouldn't have been possible without him. He not only discussed research with me but also taught me how to approach wildlife related questions in India. Rest in Piece. We will miss you. 🙏

The past is fascinating! DNA from the past takes us back in time. What were tigers like? How connected were populations? What have we lost? We have sequenced genomic DNA from historical tigers in India. Exciting news on global tiger day! Stay tuned for more.

Sexual harassment in science: biologists in India speak out nature.com/articles/d4158… An unsurprising but nevertheless sad state of affairs. The power imbalance is too great and lack of support from the system - both social and administrative does not help.
