Beautiful Autumnal scenes around Chapel this morning as we gathered for the final Congers of the half. We're very ready for a holiday, but Mr Kennedy was in ebullient form and was that a snatch of the Muppets we heard Mr Davis play just before we started? Surely not...

Welcome back! Strings of poppies have appeared in Chapel to begin our time of Remembrance reflection. The Headmaster reflected with the School on the unsettling international situation, and found time to sum up a busy half term. 🎵Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me! 🎵

With All Saints and All Souls; as we prepare to remember the fallen on Sunday and Autumn leaves drift to the ground, it's been a poignant week. Today, the Chaplain invited us to dream a foolish dream of peace. 🎵 ... and hearts are brave again, and arms are strong. Alleluia🎵

A really moving Chapel as Mr Kowhan told the story of his father, Józef, born in Poland and living through the Second World War. A story of suffering and trauma, but also of human kindness and understanding. 🎵 Lift high the universal song, and crown him Lord of all.🎵

Words, music and a haunting silence this morning as we remembered the fallen and re-committed ourselves to work for peace. 🎵 At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. 🎵

If you looked very hard this morning, you'd have spotted the faintest glimmer of blue sky over the Chapel roof. Some called it a miracle, and great was the rejoicing. 🎵As o'er each continent and island the dawn leads on another day, The voice of prayer is never silent...🎵

A thoughtful talk from Highfield | Uppingham School this morning on the value of tackling challenges head-on, in which a selection of the house's finest shared some personal accounts of their own struggles. 🎵 His kingdom is glorious and rules over all.🎵

A creative collaboration with Music | Uppingham School Technology in a special Chapel for Uppingham #SustainabilityWeek. Three pupils spoke powerfully and personally about the urgency of the issue and what we can practically do in response. 🎵 The Kingdom of God is challenge and choice🎵

After presenting a swathe of LAMDA distinctions and reviewing a successful weekend's sport, the Headmaster awarded this year's Wellbeing Advocates their distinctive yellow ties. It's important to know someone will listen. 🎵To frail earthen vessels ... entrusting thy riches🎵

A beautiful but very cold morning. Safe in the Chapel's warm embrace, the Chaplain pondered why his trousers didn't seem to fit any more and we reflected on our discomfort with difficult truths. 🎵 Spirit of truth and love, life-giving, holy Dove, speed forth thy flight🎵

Chapel today for World Philosophy Day was led by our Lower Sixth philosophers. Asking what would happen if we swapped the brain of Mr Hegarty in to the Headmaster's body (and vice versa), they explored the power of thought and imagination to shape the world.

Headmaster's Assembly, in which this bickering couple gave us a quick trail for the forthcoming Fifth Form play. In other news: sport, music and mathematics! 🎵 Bold I approach th' eternal throne, and claim the crown, through Christ my own.🎵

The sky did not look like this at 8.30 a.m., but the soggy truth was too horrible to publish... Inside Chapel, we learned some fascinating Chaplain facts and asked whether we really know ourselves as well as we think we do. 🎵 joy of heav'n to earth come down🎵

A warm and witty Chapel led by Johnson's | Uppingham School, reminding us to appreciate what we have. It included some libellous comments about the Chaplain from the housemasters of Meadhurst | Uppingham School and Highfield | Uppingham School, who are now officially in trouble with this account.

The whole of Fairfield | Uppingham School arrived disturbingly early for Chapel this morning. "We just love it", they claimed. When everyone had caught up, the Headmaster handed out a pile of gold pens. 🎵 Disperse the gloo­my clouds of night, And death’s dark sha­dows put to flight🎵

After 974 appearances and 828,000 words, it was the Chaplain's last chance to speak in Chapel today. He took the chance to reflect on the people who have made Uppingham such a special place to be. 🎵 Ye who own the faith of Jesus, sing the wonders that were done.🎵

A festive feel to the week's second Commendation Assembly as the School dressed in festive glory to support Rutland Food Bank. The Headmaster awarded a host of co-curricular awards to this term's talented high-achievers. 🎵How silently, how silently the wondrous gift is giv'n!🎵

In Chapel after a festive Congers, and we're setting up for the livestream of this afternoon's Carol Service. Even the organist has decided it's nearly Christmas... 🎵Now to the Lord sing praises, all you within this place 🎵
