Great to be Uphill Village Academy to see three of our trainees enjoying their visit there and to catch up with Tash (22/23cohort) and Laura (23/24 cohort) who after placements went on to get teaching posts there. Thank you to all Cabot Federation academies who hosted our trainees today

As mathematicians year 2 have been using dice to create a 2 digit number. They then showed how many 10s and 1s were in that number using dienes.

As athletes years 3/4 have been learning to play tag rugby. They have practised passing skills, footwork and at the end of the week worked together to play a game of Tag using belts and tags.

So impressed with how our EYFS children have settled into school life. They have loved exploring the classroom, outdoor areas and the hall.

It’s Friday and that means it’s time to celebrate achievements across school. This week we celebrated children who mastered knowledge across the curriculum alongside children who have demonstrated character traits such as perseverance, courage, determination and kindness.

Celebrating the end of a successful week with hot chocolate Friday. Congratulations to all of the children recognised for making great choices and being the best versions of themselves this week.

As an “everybody” school all of our year 6’s have the opportunity to become a prefect. However, if they take the badge, they accept the responsibility that goes with it. Delighted that ALL our year 6 children took a badge pledging to be outstanding role models in our community

As scientists years 3/4 looked at how light travels. They learned that it travelled in a straight line and reflected off of objects so that we could see them.

As scientists year 1 recapped what it means to be a scientist and what skills need to be used. They explored their prior knowledge of materials and then looked at sorting items into different groups according to their material.

So proud of our year 6 children who prepared and delivered speeches with the hope of becoming our new house captains. They were eloquent, passionate and enthusiastic. The children across the school will vote tomorrow to choose their new leaders - good luck all.

Great to be in Bluebell Woods for forest school. The children enjoyed identifying leaves, trees and plants across the woods.

As historians, year 6 ordered key events of the Egyptian period then identified the stages of the mummification process and even mummified some tomatoes!

As mathematicians year 3/4 continued to build on their place value knowledge. Year 3 learned how to partition numbers up to 1000 in a variety ways.

We have loved having EYFS in full time and are blown away with how well they have settled in. We have had so much fun! This week they have enjoyed doing lots of gross motor activities such as climbing, cycling, digging and jumping!

As historians years 3/4 explored the Tudor period with the help of a special visitor. Jed the Tudor courtier gave an insight into life in Tudor Britain including details about life under King Henry V111’s reign.

A great end to a sunny September week. Celebrating with our lovely KS1 hot chocolate recipients. Rewarded for making excellent choices this week.

It’s scarecrow weekend in Uphill. Have you spotted our “Bedtime Stories” themed scarecrows on your trip around the village!

Congratulations to our new house and vice house captains voted for by the children in each of our houses. These new leaders have pledged to uphold our values and be excellent role models to the whole school community.

As scientists, year 2 used their new knowledge to show that particles (cheerios) in a solid are packed together, the particles of a liquid have some space in between so they can flow, and the particles of a gas are spread out to fill the space.

The children enjoyed reading club at lunchtime today.
