The Mississippi River is experiencing low water levels not seen in decades. Levels are dropping to a point where the gages monitoring them may soon be unable to return reliable data—if any at all.

The low water levels follow a lack of rain across much of the watershed. Some areas are forecasted to see water levels drop even further in coming weeks.
