This LED light assembly lives inside our new light collection. Green Cast- acrylic waste made into new acrylic to diffuse the light. 3D printed PLA parts hold everything in place. A aluminium heat sink cools down the low-power LED itself. Sign up for news: buff.ly/2H61ntz

Magnetic declination describes the angle between magnetic north and the direction of true north. Our North Light is able to find magnetic north with a magnetometer and account for the magnetic declination when it is told its location. Sign up for news:buff.ly/2H61ntz

The internals of our North Lights are developed through many alterations over the last 6 months. Getting our own 3d printer was money well spent, as it has made our designing process more efficient and fun. We print with PLA, a filament derived from fermented plants such as corn.

Out Now! North Light is a table light that can be turned around its axis and turns on when it faces the North Star. With a built-in compass, it can sense the magnetic field and with its app, the light can be set to a custom direction such as a family home. buff.ly/2ABh87S

Out now! All parts are made from lasting materials, cutting down on CO2 emissions by choosing local manufacturers. Therefore we are taking pre-orders until the 15th October to fund a local production. The lights will be ready to ship by mid-November. buff.ly/2ABh87S

Throwing wheel in the living room, kiln in the kitchen. It was hard to choose which tools to take from our workshop to still be able to work but also to make sure our flat feels like home. We decided to take the time to focus on making a collection of resonance pattern plates.

When materials are vibrated at different frequencies, they resonate and create fascinating patterns. These patterns were discovered by German physicist E. Chladni in 1787 long before the invention of the speaker. We are using this technique to create patterns for a new collection

Ernst Chladni Pattern transferred on to terracotta. We are experimenting with different types of materials to make the patterns with that can survive the firing process. 🔥

One more tool that we had to take in order to work from home is our 3D printer. We normally use it to make prototypes or mechanical parts. At the moment it is printing visor head straps for the NHS and slump moulds for our terracotta plates. 🖨️ #3dprinting #printedmoulds

Glazing tests on different types of clay. 🤗Can't wait to see how they all look like when they come out of the kiln! #terracotta #earthenware #blueclay

Fresh off the kiln. 😎 First plates created with resonance pattern - bisque fired and waiting to get glazed. #workinprogress #blueearthenware #terracotta #newcollection

We went a bit wild here with a cocktail of grog, pigments and oxides. It will probably burn off in the kiln but very much enjoying it while it lasts. Also matching our carpet that we bought from a tiny shop near Lisbon last year.

Back in 2014 Cindy walked around London thinking of new ways of navigating in the city. One of the outcomes was the Satellite Dish Map of London. The satellite dish can be used as an analogue way -finding device. Most dishes in London are pointing towards south-southeast.

🔊Ceramics Made with Sound Waves. In 1874, Ernst Chladni discovered that by sprinkling sand on a metal plate and striking it with a violin bow, vibrant patterns emerge. The sand is bounced around in areas of vibration, and trapped in areas where standing waves form.

Frequency Plates are made with Sound Waves. After we create the patterns we transfer them onto clay and mould them into plates. Each plate has the frequency with which it was vibrated inscribed on the back. The plates come in three different sizes and two different types of clay.
