Our plans to expand oil production should not be a deterr(g)ent for anyone to attend COP29 in Azerbaijan. Airing international grievances of our domestic policies at COP29 only leaves us out to dry.

While BBC News (World) and Global Witness attempt to paint this as scoop, the reality is we don't hide our intentions of promoting fossil fuels at #COP29 or the fact that SOCAR will expand production. In fact, we are proud of it.

Despite the press stories (don’t google COP29), despite all the world leaders who had unexpected reasons to pull their attendance, and despite the fact that somehow a climate conference and fossil fuels don’t mix, we are extremely proud that day one of #COP29 has kicked off.
