The CsYb experiment works with ultracold mixtures of caesium & ytterbium. One of our goals is forming CsYb molecules, but we also enjoy investigating the physics of quantum degenerate mixtures of the two species & are currently upgrading our apparatus to study quantum droplets.

Congratulations to Jack Segal on passing his PhD viva today! His thesis describes experiments on "Ultracold and quantum degenerate mixtures of Cs and Yb". Thanks to his examiners Elmar Haller Experimental Quantum Optics and Photonics Group and Ulrich Schneider Work done in Durham Quantum Light and Matter, Durham Physics & ⚛️QSUM ⚛️
