Back to the German volcanoes of the East Eifel for the annual LMU Volcanology field trip. This year, @Thomas_JJones and Carolina Almeida Figueiredo are joining and contribute to elucidate textural secrets of pumices. For now, a part of this beautiful outcrop has survived mining.

We will be studying petrophysical properties of pyroclastic deposits on 4 case-study volcanoes to better constrain transport and sedimentation conditions. 🌋😎

IAVCEI is saddened to learn that Hans-Ulrich Schmincke passed away on 24/08/24 at the age of 86. He was SG of IAVCEI between 1983-1991, and awarded the Thorarinsson medal in 1993. During his mandate, he revamped the publication model of BV, a legacy that we profit from today
