Had a weird day on X.

Random guys jumping on me for wanting to hire unemployed freelancers, give them exposure, train them, teach them our design process, and of course, pay them good money for it.

I guess I’m the bad guy now 🤷

I ended up doing what Ben suggests here.

I'm no HR expert and figure everything out on my own.

This was the setup we had at a previous agency I worked at.

I'm taking my chances with portfolio and video calls only. Rest of the process is an overkill.

Went full OMAD this week.

I’ve been having one big meal per day at 5PM followed by a 23-hour fast.

Feeling laser focused while working; no brain fog, no sugar cravings, no distractions.

Plus it’s a killer for burning fat.

Have you tried OMAD before?

One of the most common issues I saw in designers' portfolios was the visual contrast.

95% of designers don't look at contrast at all.

Do you think certain aesthetics and minimalism are worth the lack of contrast?

Now off to draw some rectangles and make some calls.

Running on coffee and sparkling water

After reviewing 400+ submissions (so far!) here are few things that I disliked:

- 45+ degree-angled presentations (I had to tilt my head every time I needed to see more details)
- text on top of busy images (with parallax)
- poor use of mockups that look cheap
- designs lacking…

I’ll repeat this again.

It’s 10 times harder to find a good designer than a good client.

Trustworthy and experienced designers are worth their weight in gold.

Team building is the hardest part of scaling a business for me.
