Join us for our first seminar of the semester tomorrow, January 22, at 4:00pm in Kollros Auditorium! The seminar will be led by James Alfieri, PhD, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Biology at Texas A&M University. All are welcome to attend. We hope to see you there!

Our final seminar this week will be led by Tara Finegan, PhD, an Assistant Research Professor and Director of the Advanced Light Microscopy Core in the University of Missouri's Division of Biological Sciences. The seminar will begin at 3:30pm on Friday, January 24, in BBE101.

Danielle Talbot (Tootle Lab), a PhD candidate in the Cell and Developmental Biology Program, will defend her dissertation tomorrow, January 23rd, at 1:00pm in MERF 1117. All are welcome to attend! Let’s show Danielle🌻 our support during this significant academic milestone!

Apply for the NSF’s REU Program in Interdisciplinary Evolutionary Sciences by February 15th! Participating students will gain valuable exposure to the breadth of evolutionary science as they complete a research project under the mentorship of UI faculty. biology.uiowa.edu/reu

Join the Iowa Sciences Academy on February 18th at 5:00 PM for a LinkedIn Learning Workshop! Attendees will learn about ways to display their work for graduate school or job applications, as well as build their professional network and connect with people from around the world.

Our seminar this week will be led by Alison Hanson, MD, PhD, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry here at the University of Iowa. The seminar will begin at 3:30pm on Friday, February 14th, in BBE101. All are welcome to attend, and we hope to see you there!

Abbey Dvorak from the School of Music and Daniel Summers from uiowabiology have been awarded Williams-Cannon Faculty Fellowships. They each will receive $47,500 in research funding and will continue to develop their studies. Read more: bit.ly/4jMftki
