We heartily congratulate Professor William Bazeyo former Dean Makerere University School of Public Health, former Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration), first Head GAMSU - Makerere University and Chair Grants Management Committee Research and Innovations Fund (RIF) upon his appointment as Chairperson of Council Busitema University.

We are set to extend expertise & support to DRC by assisting in the establishment of a cancer treatment center in the Kivu region. This collaboration follows a recent visit by a delegation from Hopital General Reference Charite Maternelle, led by Dr. Jules Kafitiye.

The partnership aims to address growing need for cancer care services in DRC, where access to specialized cancer treatment has been limited. The new center will provide diagnosis, treatment, patient support, research, significantly improving availability of cancer care.

Dr. Balagadde- "We hope to bring life-saving cancer treatments closer to the people of Kivu, offering hope and improving health outcomes for children, Our goal is to share knowledge, build capacity, and create sustainable healthcare solutions for cancer patients in the region."

Dr. Jules Kafitiye- "This is a significant step forward for healthcare in the Kivu region. By partnering with the UCI, we are bringing essential cancer treatment services to our community, which will save lives and alleviate the burden of traveling long distances for care."

By working closely with the team at Hopital General Reference Charite Maternelle, the Uganda Cancer Institute will help ensure that the new center is equipped to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
