Elders are custodians of culture and tradition. Their influence within communities often shapes social norms and practices. By engaging elders as advocates for change, it becomes possible to challenge harmful cultural beliefs from within, making efforts to end FGM sustainable

Today @Katumkale kiwawa ward we trained men and boys to stand against FGM , this will shift cultural norms and create lasting change. We also formed a group of advocates who will help amplify awareness and strengthen community efforts. #@Unicefkenya

Today @Sasak-Alale ward we had a successful Training of women to be our change agents on promoting behavioral change and the prevention of female genital mutilation (FGM).

We engaged stakeholders in Kiwawa Ward—government, political, religious, women, youth, teachers, elders & NGOs—to strengthen our call to end harmful cultural practices. They commended the impactful work by UNICEF Kenya & UDO.ke in protecting communities.

We're glad to see progress from our intercommunity conversations involving male leaders in the fight against FGM. Many are now proudly educating their daughters and even marrying uncircumcised women from regions like Turkana and Karamoja where FGM is not practiced UNICEF Kenya

We are encourageing respected elders to advocate for change within their communities and equip them with the knowledge to speak out against FGM. Partnering with@UnicefKenya we are tinvolving elders in our programme to #fightgsrFGM
