Big Saturday scoop from Andrew Engelson: The @seattlepd hired Kevin Dave, who struck and killed 23-year-old Jaahnavi Kandula while driving 74mph, despite knowing about his 'checkered history' as an officer in Tucson.

This week I attended a meeting on the third floor of City Hall that CM Sara Nelson, who is demanding legislative staff soon physically come into the office four days a week, was attending virtually from the second floor.

Auburn wants to widen E Valley Highway on the King/Pierce County line from three to five lanes.

They are telling PSRC that the widening will reduce VMT because...it includes a shared use path and a bus uses the road 9 times in the AM & 8 in the PM w/ no weekend service.

The Ben Franklin board just listened to riders & voted unanimously to punt a roll back of their sales tax.

I’m inspired by the hundreds of riders who sent in letters and those spent a whole evening to testify to the board. Thank you!

'How many board members took transit here tonight? These cuts you are proposing are going to affect people like me, a lot of people in this area who don't have the privilege of driving.'-Jaime Torres at the Ben Franklin Transit mtg where the board debates a tax cut to gut transit

Incredible that the default of our regional transit agency is to purchase land with vibrant businesses on it before maximizing use of existing public right-of-way. Not a great way to build transit and not a great way to win hearts and minds.

The *only* upside of environmental impact statements still being required to include a 'visual and aesthetic resources' section is that we can use them as reporters to get project renderings.

Sorry Matt Baume, I want this crosswalk painted ASAP too, but one of the few things holding this city together right now is the fact that individual councilmembers can't direct other city departments. Can you imagine if all nine could direct SDOT crews?
