First stop Frankfurt then on to Taipei. Trip of a life time for Castlebrae and Tynecastle High pupils, all thanks to our very special partnership with SwireCentreEdin

Day 1 of the Taiwan adventure 🇹🇼 with Tynecastle High and Castlebrae After a long flight to Taipei we visited Hsinchu City God Temple and got to work making our very own rice noodles. SwireCentreEdin

🇹🇼 Day 2: We had a great tour of the Coca- Cola Factory in Taipei before enjoying the beautiful gardens of the Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Residence. At the Yuan Ye Museum we made our own traditional pineapple pastry and tried on traditional outfits.

🇹🇼 Day 3: We explored the amazing rock formations in the Yehliu Geopark and enjoyed a seafood sharing lunch. In the afternoon we visited the Gold museum in Jiufen and the beautiful hilltop winding streets Castlebrae Tynecastle High

🇹🇼 Day 4: We headed south to Tainan where we visited Jhongsiao Junior High School. They welcomed us into their PE lesson where we gave skipping a go and also got to hand paint our own pencil cases with traditional methods. Thanks so much for your warm welcome 😊

🇹🇼 Day 4: We also visited the Anping Old Fort which explained the relationship Taiwan had with the Netherlands in the 17th Century. We caught our first glimpse of a Dragon Boat Race too 🐉! Castlebrae Tynecastle High

🇹🇼 Day 5: Today we travelled to Kaohsiung and visited The Former British Consulate built in 1865 which had wonderful views over the city. We stopped off at the amazing Lotus Pond to see the 🐉 and 🐯 Pagodas. Heading back north to Taichung for a hotpot dinner Castlebrae

🇹🇼 Day 6: We visited a local food market where we saw 粽子 which are traditional sticky rice dumplings for The Dragon Boat Festival. We also stopped off at the Paochueh and Confucius Temple before heading back north to Taipei Castlebrae Tynecastle High SwireCentreEdin

🇹🇼 Day 7: In the morning we visited the National Palace Museum and saw the famous ‘Meat-Shaped Stone’! We then watched lots of teams compete in a Dragon Boat Race. After lunch, we took the high speed lift up the Taipei 101 tower for spectacular views of the city.

🇹🇼 Day 8-Final Day: It was a very hot walk to the top of Tiger Mountain but the views across the city were worth it! The rain came down as we headed to Ximending for some souvenir shopping. One final hotpot for dinner before heading to the airport Castlebrae Tynecastle High
