Israel doesn't just want Iran not to have a nuclear program. It wants it to not be *able* to. But Iran's program is endogenous. It has the raw material, the engineers, and the supply chain. This is like trying to bomb a country that has wheat out of knowing how to make bread.

UK politics are driven by knee-jerk authoritarianism. Take the call to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist group. When they have injured no one but embarrassed the UK state - their real crime. Their actions are not "terrorist" & this is an Orwellian debasement of language.

There isn't any part of the country now where rented accomodation is affordable for a single person working full time on minimum wage. The social.contract is broken. That is a dangerous place for everyone.

The most escalatory thing that Iran can do is not to bomb U.S. military bases in the Middle East. It’s to close the Strait of Hormuz. And if that happens, Oil goes above $100 in the blink of an eye. Iran is no military match for the United States. But they can wreak havoc

Pulled kicking and screaming back to war, where they never want to be. Not again, not more war, they say, but guess what. Someone has launched “strikes on Iran.”

All the panic about whether Starmer is backing Trump is a bit pointless - Starmer would have known about bombing Iran same time as the rest of us. Starmer & Lammy & the rest of Europe are inconsequential now. They would be better to focus on the dire domestic situation

For the last two years the main focus of the left’s efforts have gone into protesting over the Middle East, while Reform UK got on with building a grassroots movement to stick up for people in Britain. That’s why their influence has grown and the left’s declined.

Yes, Iran needs regime change. But it can only come from within. Freedom cannot be delivered by foreign jets, let alone boots on the ground. That way, disaster lies. If the ayatollah is to be toppled, it must be by Iranians themselves, says Tim Black buff.ly/WDKelui

Very possible that Israel wants a ceasefire because it is running low on interceptor. Reports days ago suggested they were running low and that the system was already overwhelmed. Strikes have clearly been getting through. Might be a temporary ploy to restock then resume war.
