Today we were testing new natural surfactants for textile conservation. Still much to do in terms of applicability in heritage collections but the results are promising. This is a first test with Hedera helix, also known as English ivy 🌱

The green beetle project is not forgotten. We continue testing. Today we took for the first time the mock-ups to test and the result is promising. Here some photos of the process.

Well, believe or not the first stage of this reconstruction is almost completed. Now let’s start with the chantilly lace research in order to make it finished. Very happy so far 😊

Some of you have asked me how I did the panniers for the Boue Soeurs reconstruction. Well here the result of one of them corresponding to the left side.
The seam at the middle is expressly made for two reasons: 1 esthetic, 2 functionality (since there are only 2 baleens)

Replicating 1920s panniers is fan but with crepe georgette and baleens is well a challenge 😅

How important is closing the edges of an underdress made in crepe? This week I am working hard on the underdress for the Boue Soeurs project. Hard work for something that won’t be seen ☺️

Last week we put the Mantua dress on the photography studio for 3D, and today the photographer Adriaan van Dam has sent the result.
